San Andreas hits North America but not NZ
Tue, 11th Dec 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

The best-selling Playstation 2 game of all time is scheduled to come to the Playstation Network in North America today.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas sold more than 27.5 million copies worldwide and is widely regarded as the best PS2 game ever (except by God of War fan-boys like me).

The violent, crass and often hilarious San Andreas is available now on the North America Playstation Store, but as yet has not appeared on New Zealand’s network – fingers crossed it will be coming soon, however, as there’s no reason for it not to be a global release.

In fact, San Andreas remains one of the most acclaimed games of all time, holding an average score of 95 per cent on Metacritic; it is tied with GTA: Vice City, Gran Turismo 3 and Madden 2003 as the fifth-highest reviewed PS2 game. IGN gave the game 9.9/10, the highest score the site awarded to a PS2 game.

So with such an exceptional legacy, there should be no doubt that both San Andreas and Vice City will eventually come to our shores as digital downloads.

Both San Andreas and GTA: Vice City were rated by the Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) way back in January, but we are yet to see a Vice City release; perhaps Rockstar are spacing them out to keep the franchise fresh in our minds before the release of GTA V early next year.

We’ll keep you posted if and when San Andreas comes to the New Zealand PSN.
