Two new consoles were announced by Sony today. One is the PS4 Pro while the other is a Slim PS4. Both are out later this year.
First there's the 500GB model of the PS4 Slim which will be out in New Zealand on September 16th, 2016 for NZD$489.95. If you want the 1TB version, that will be out later on September 29th, 2016 for NZD$569.95. It has the same specs as the original PS4, but is now 25% lighter and 30% smaller.
In more exciting news, Sony also announced the PS4 Pro. This is the newer console that is able to support 4K gaming. Not only do new games have 4K support, but patches will be released for some older games that will benefit with the visual upgrade.
It also comes with a 1TB hard drive that allows you to save more games and data. YouTube and Netflix apps are available for you to stream 4K video. Sadly though, the PS4 Pro won't be able to play 4K Blu-ray discs at the moment,
Michael Ephraim, Managing Director, Sony Interactive Entertainment New Zealand commented:
“As Andy House said, our vision is to present a clear choice to the gamer and we are steadfast in our commitment to being the best place to play. Today’s announcements are testament of this. With PlayStation 4 Pro, we look forward to introducing our players to our most powerful home console with the offering of the first class 4k and HDR technology. At 30% reduced size, the new model PS4 offers great value for the gamer and will also join the HDR revolution from next week. With the news we’ve unveiled today and PS VR launching on October 13, there’s never been a better time to join the PlayStation community.”
The PS4 Pro is coming out later on November 10th, 2016. PlayStation NZ confirmed on Twitter that the price will be NZD$639.95
