Sony Mobile has revealed the availability and pricing of the Sony Xperia X Compact, the latest smartphone in the Xperia X series.

The smartphone is the ‘compact' version of the Sony Xperia X, featuring a 4.6” HD 720p TRILUMINOS screen, which Sony says makes it easy to hold in one hand.

Sony has become somewhat renowned for its camera quality. The Xperia X Compact features ‘triple image sensing technology' to prevent blurry photos, a 23MP main camera that boots from standby to capture in 0.6 seconds, full HD video with five axis image stabilisation and a Predictive Hybrid Autofocus that tracks subjects automatically.

“Combined with triple image sensing technology, the 23MP camera goes from standby to capture in 0.6 seconds making the Xperia X Compact the ideal device for those who want the best quality images and premium features in a convenient and pocket friendly phone,” says John Featherstone, Managing Director of Sony Mobile Communications, Oceania.

The build features Sony's classic ‘slab' format complete with loop surface design that connects screen and casing; Sony's famous side-perched fingerprint sensor also makes an appearance again.

Loaded on the phone is a new battery care feature that's complemented by Qnovo Adaptive Charging for better battery health and lifespan.

Meanwhile, Smart Cleaner learns user habits to enhance and personalise experience, alongside Xperia Tips.

The Xperia X Compact in Mineral Black is exclusively available from Vodafone from today for $699.

Customers who purchase the handset have the option to receive 12 free movie downloads from Xperia Lounge, valued at more than $200.
