A Californian man has filed a lawsuit against Sony after it removed Linux support from the PlayStation 3.
Anthony Ventura alleges that Sony's recent firmware update, which removed the option to install other operating systems, "is not only a breach of the sales contract between Sony and its customers and a breach of covenant of good faith and fair dealing, but it is also an unfair and deceptive business practice perpetrated on millions of unsuspecting customers."
The complaint said that Sony misled consumers by marketing the PS3 as a console capable of running another OS.
After the latest firmware update, which has to be downloaded for PS3 users to sign into and use the PlayStation Network, this option was removed permanently from the dashboard.
Sony said that it pulled the feature to install other operating systems for security reasons.
