Take the weather with you with MetService app
Fri, 1st Jun 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Kiwi consumers have been given the option to always take the weather with them, with MetService launching its own weather forecast app for iPhone and Android.

The app includes town - city forecasts for times ranging from hours ahead right through to 10 days, as well as real-time rain radar, video from MetService TV and local traffic cameras.

Both apps were designed by MetService partners Shift, but while the organisation developed the Android app in house the iPhone app was developed by Wellington app gurus PaperKite, also responsible for the Budget 2012 app released last week.

An iPad app was launched in June 2011.

Jacqui Bridges, general manager, communications for MetService, says the app is ‘another significant step in our digital strategy'.

"[The app] reinforces our commitment to get MetService forecasts direct to the public no matter where they are,” Bridges says, "and in a format that's engaging and easy to use.

Both apps cost $2.59.
