FYI, this story is more than a year old

Summer is here! So now’s the perfect time to lock yourself inside with dozens of other gamers (away from the sun’s harmful rays) to thrash through the pile of competitive games that you’ve accrued over the past year. For Aucklanders (and those willing to travel) the ON3 Network has announced the Summer Series. This tournament will consist of a series of online qualifying rounds throughout December and January. The finalists will battle it out in a one-day LAN competition in Auckland in early February. This event will also mark the beginning of the ON3 Network Championship Series, which will run regularly for approximately seven of the most popular titles. Whether you’re a PC gamer or an Xbox 360 gamer, there’s a range of titles for you to compete in.

Wellingtonians haven’t been left out of the LAN action either: Adversity Gaming has organised an Xbox 360 tournament in Wellington on Saturday, January 15th and Sunday, January 16th. The AvT Wellington LAN will take place at the city’s Capital E centre, with the Adversity crew expecting upwards of 150 attendees. By registering at the Adversity Gaming website and paying $50 (by December 31st!), you’ll get your own space with connections to both Xbox LIVE and the local network, entry in up to three of the main tournaments, an event booklet and space in the sleeping area. Aside from the major tournaments, gamer-requested tournaments for such games as the original Halo, Crash Team Racing and older Call of Duty titles will also be held.
