Web sites about vineyards, credit cards, politics and banking were among the winners at the 2009 BeST Design Awards, honouring the best in local Web design.Beating out 40 other entries in the category, gold was awarded to Christchurch-based Sons & Co for its design of Waipara-based vineyard Black Estate’s Web site, which the judges described as “simple, elegant and easy to use”.Gold was also presented to Auckland based Shift for the Visa Go Web site and Special Group for the Green Party, 2008 Election viral campaign – a campaign described by the judges of the awards as “refreshing and very convincing”.A “friendly approach to banking” where “design didn’t suffer under the sheer mass of content” saw Springload pick up the final silver in the category for the Kiwibank Web site (pictured).
