Tim Cook auction hits $605k…with two days to go
Tue, 14th May 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Bids to have coffee with the Apple CEO Tim Cook at the company's headquarters has topped US$600,000, as the auction draws to a close.

With the closing date of May 14 nearing, the current bid, of 85 in total, stands at US$605,000 - with all proceeds going to the RFK Center for Justice and Human Rights.

After reporting the online charity auction in late April, bidding has somewhat stalled on the offer, after reaching just short of the current mark on April 30.

Valid for 2 people, the experience will be between 30 minutes to one hour, and cannot be resold or re-auctioned. As if anybody would want to stick it on Trade Me.

Described as "bid now on this unique opportunity to have coffee with Apple CEO Tim Cook at Apple headquarters", the winning bid has a year to claim their prize.

Imagine paying over half a million dollars for something and putting it off for a year?

But of course, the meeting time and date has to be mutually agreed, and with a busy few months forecast for Apple, it may be wise to book Cook's time as soon as possible.

"We expect all winning bidders and their guests to conduct themselves appropriately when attending an experience won at Charitybuzz," the auction states.

"Polite manners and respect for the generous donor and adherence to any rules or parameters are a must."

So in other words, Samsung fans, don't bother bidding.
