Transformers MMO in the works
Tue, 1st Mar 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Hasbro Inc. and Jagex Limited have announced a joint venture to create an online game set in the Transformers universe scheduled for launch in 2012.Jagex has over 40 online games under its belt, but it’s most well-known for the world’s most popular free-to-play MMO, Runescape."Transformers is one of the most iconic brands in the world and we are delighted to team up with Hasbro in order to bring our shared vision to reality,” said Mark Gerhard, CEO at Jagex Games Studio. "There is a huge appetite for an online Transformers game, and we will utilise every bit of our development and publishing expertise to deliver a dynamic and action-paced game that Transformers fans will find irresistible.”At the time of writing, very few details were known about the nature of the game other than the fact that it’s officially in development. In fact, it’s not yet known which generation or continuity will form the basis of this game. For instance, it could be set in the fan-favourite Generation 1 continuity (as with the recent Transformers: War for Cybertron, which Game Console scored a solid 8/10 back in September last year), or even in that of the recent Michael Bay Hollywood movies. In any case, Game Console will watch this development with interest.
