TVNZondemand inbound for PlayStation 3
Mon, 23rd Nov 2009
FYI, this story is more than a year old

In what might simply be confirmation of the glaringly obvious, an icon accidentally rolled out in the latest PlayStation 3 system update confirms that TVNZ is in partnership with Sony Computer Entertainment to produce a TVNZondemand interface.

Last week PlayStation 3 owners were prompted to update their system's firmware to version 3.10. For some users, this new firmware included the TVNZondemand logo in the system's Xross Media Bar (XMB). The logo has since been removed.

A press release sent out by TVNZ on Friday evening states that “TVNZ and Sony Computer Entertainment are working together to enable a TVNZondemand interface optimised for the PS3. Both SCENZ and TVNZ look forward to releasing more information in the New Year regarding the collaboration."

Game Console previously reported that PlayTV - a Freeview television peripheral for the PlayStation 3 - won't be available in New Zealand until an unspecified date next year.
