UFC Undisputed 2010

UFC Undisputed 2010 has finally hit the PSP, but can the little handheld handle a game with the punching power of MMA (Mixed Martial Arts)? Thankfully, the game manages to pack over 100 of the UFC’s finest with an impressive roster including Chuck Liddell, Shane Carwin, and former WWE wrestler and current UFC Champion, Brock Lesnar.
As big as the roster is, production values on UFC Undisputed 2010 for the PSP are not as grand. First of all, the game has no commentary like its console counterparts. You’ll mostly be playing the game in utter silence aside from a few grunts from the two combatants. Sadly, replays of knockouts and other highlights from the fight are too fast for you to even see. Replays flash for no more than 2 seconds before you’re expected to be ready to fight for the next round.
Aside from the obvious lack of presentation in UFC Undisputed 2010, it’s the gameplay that really saves this game from being a first-round knockout. There are a lot of moves that each fighter can execute according to the discipline they fight in. Submission wrestlers are my personal favourite, as they have a variety of holds that can make any fighter tap out. Not to mention there are no health bars in the game, so you have the potential to knock out your opponent within the first few seconds of the fight!
There's a plethora of gameplay modes on offer too. These include Career, Tournament, Title and Ultimate Fights modes. Ultimate Fights is the most unique, as you can get to re-enact or relive some of the most famous bouts in UFC history. You can also unlock bonus videos from the fight if you manage to beat certain challenges that are set.
UFC Undisputed 2010 on PSP may lack the overall realism of the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, but it‘s still a great game for fans of MMA.
