Telecom has advised on Twitter that customers south of Taupo may be experiencing problems.

“Sorry all just to confirm the problems experienced by some XT customers is south of Taupo.”

It’s the second Tweet by Telecom on possible technical issues on the network in the past hour.

It is reminiscent of a massive outage in December last year when all XT customers south of Taupo were without service for several hours.

Telecommunications Review has sought comment from Telecom.

UPDATE - 12.55pm: Telecom plans to resore the full network services by 1pm according to its Twitter account:

"All XT Customers south of Taupo experiencing problems we expect full service to be restored by 1pm today-apologises for the inconvience ^AC"

UPDATE - 2.35pm: Telecom reports via Twitter that service is now restored. Those customers unable to connect are being advised to remove their battery, replace and restart.
