Tech fans who find their wireless devices short on memory will be able to upgrade from next week with the launch of the Kingston Wi-Drive in New Zealand.

Available from August 8, the Wi-Drive is a portable wireless device that provides additional memory for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch.

The device is around the same size as the iPhone 4, and weighs around 50 grams less, at 86 grams.

It offers an additional 16GB or 32GB of memory, and can be accessed by up to three users at once.

Memory can be costly in iPads and iPhones – on the New Zealand store, the difference between a 16GB and 32GB iPad is $250, while the difference between a 16GB and 32GB iPhone 4 is $205.

A 16GB Wi-Drive will cost $199.50 in New Zealand, with the 32GB model priced at $265.

The Wi-Drive is to be distributed here by Ingram Micro, Simms and Synnex.
