WRESTLEMANIA IS THE BIGGEST EVENT on the Pro-Wrestling calendar and WWE’s 26th instalment of the mega show did not disappoint. This is thanks to the impressive lineup at this year’s event, with four marquee matches that could all have been main event matches in their own right. Last year’s event was lacklustre, as there was only one exciting match to see: the epic encounter between Shawn Michaels and The Undertaker. WrestleMania XXVI, however, sees not only a rematch between these two icons but the return of Bret “The Hitman” Hart as he faces off against Mr McMahon.
There are a couple of duds, though: the threeminute tag-team match and the ‘Money in the Bank’ ladder match where most of the spots planned were heavily botched. Sadly, the Bret Hart vs. Mr McMahon match is fairly slow and boring since the WWE has gone PG rated.
The main highlights come courtesy of the 'Streak vs. Career' match. This is where The Undertaker’s unbeaten record at WrestleMania goes up against Shawn Michael’s wrestling career. The storyline behind this match builds up perfectly, the match itself an emotional rollercoaster. This match may not be as exciting as last year's, but it ells a better story in the ring. A must-watch for any old-school wrestling fan.
The 2010 WWE Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony is included in its entirety. It’s great to see the legends speak out of character during their speeches, (unlike in the TNA DVDs) as it gives the viewer a peek behind the real people who portray the characters you see on TV. For the fi rst time they’ve included some matches that the legends have participated in, too.
WrestleMania XXVI may not have been the best WrestleMania of all time, but it’s a vast improvement over last year’s dire event. We can thank The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels for that.
